PREVENTIVE HEALTH CONFERENCE: 25.06.09

Building on social marketing projects undertaken in all 6 key areas of the government’s Preventive Health agenda, The Hub is taking part in the GovNet Preventive Health conference at the QEII centre in London on the 25th June.

With the one-year anniversary of Lord Darzi’s Next Stage Review as context, the conference will focus on the challenges faced by the NHS in tackling obesity, sexual health, alcohol harm, drug addiction, smoking and mental health.

With a strong specialism in health-related behaviour change programmes, The Hub will join Jeff French from the National Social Marketing Centre and other practitioners in highlighting the important role that social marketing can play in tackling these issues.

With a recent IPA award win for its ‘Lose the Fags’ smoking cessation campaign and an influx of recent account wins in the health sector, The Hub is ideally placed to take lead role in driving social marketing up the preventive health agenda.

Helen Johnson, Managing Director said, “Preventive health cuts to the heart of our approach. As social marketers, we focus exclusively on behaviour change programmes that are both long-term and sustainable. And if we are to even begin to shift the pervasive social and cultural norms that define current attitudes towards health—internally within the NHS as well as our externally within our communities—the insight-driven innovation that social marketing is proven to deliver will play a crucial role.”
